ご挨拶

Introduction

Welcome to Geisha Okiya Matsunoya in Ōi Kaigan.
The district of Ōi Kaigan flourished as an entertainment quarter near the sea from the Edo (1603-1867) to Showa (1926-1989) periods but has since faced a decline.
Our daily efforts at Matsunoya focus on preserving the declining tradition and promoting greater awareness of our town.
Our geishas practice Japanese dance and shamisen with dedication and perform their art at private functions and various events.
At private functions, we offer not only singing, dancing, and musical performances but also banquets and games for the enjoyment of all guests.

ご紹介

Eitaro Matsunoya

Eitaro Matsunoya, the second-generation proprietress.
Born and raised in Ōi Kaigan, I have been trained in the art of traditional Japanese performing arts and ozashiki (private function) etiquette since childhood.
Male geishas (onnagata geisha) like myself are rare, but I hope to help people get to know Ōi Kaigan a little better through my work.
Fortunately, we have received wide coverage in various media and from overseas.
Following in my late mother's footsteps, I will continue to strive daily to practice the art and pass on the ozashiki culture to preserve the tradition of the entertainment quarter.
